Explore four project-based roles supporting Primary’s AI training project in CNC manufacturing and digital fabrication. Review the job descriptions and qualifications below.
We are seeking experienced CAM Programmers to contribute technical expertise to Primary’s AI training project focused on CNC manufacturing and digital fabrication. Apply practical manufacturing knowledge to evaluate and improve AI-generated CAM work. Your feedback will help define accurate, safe, production-ready CAM work. No prior AI experience is required.
What you’ll do
Contribute real-world part examples and available CAD models, drawings, CAM project files, toolpaths, setup sheets, tooling and workholding details, or inspection results.
Document workflows on past or current parts, or complete new parts supplied by Primary.
Develop and review technical content related to CAM programming and CNC manufacturing.
Evaluate CAM solutions for accuracy, safety, efficiency, and production readiness.
Create objective rubrics and repeatable methods for assessing toolpaths, machining strategies, and outcomes.
Identify technical errors, risks, and opportunities for improvement; explain your reasoning in concise feedback and occasional recorded demonstrations.
Minimum qualifications
3+ years of professional CAM programming or CNC manufacturing experience.
Strong hands-on experience preparing parts for manufacture and developing CAM programs in Autodesk Fusion 360.
Strong understanding of machining strategy, tooling, workholding, simulation, post-processing, and G-code.
Ability to judge whether a CAM program would run safely and effectively in production.
Ability to contribute relevant part data and artifacts you have permission to share, or to work on parts supplied by Primary.
Strong English communication skills and access to the software and equipment needed for assigned tasks.
Preferred experience & engagement
Shop ownership or operation, access to a CNC machine for validation, 4-axis or 5-axis programming, production review, CAM instruction, applications engineering, mentoring, familiarity with additional CAM platforms or controls, and experience creating technical documents, rubrics, or evaluation standards are preferred. This is a remote independent-contractor engagement; task scope varies, and contractors provide their own equipment, software access, and applicable taxes.
